<p>The 2023 OECD Survey on Public Policy Evaluation provides practitioners, academics and civil society with an overview of evaluation practices across OECD countries, including information on institutionalisation, quality and impact.

<h4>About this questionnaire</h4>
<p>The content of the 2023 database was collected using an online <a href="https://webfs.oecd.org/governmentataglance/Budgeting/2023%20OECD%20Policy%20Evaluation%20Survey.pdf" target="_blank">questionnaire</a> and a <a href="https://webfs.oecd.org/governmentataglance/Budgeting/2023%20OECD%20Public%20Policy%20Evaluation%20Survey%20Glossary.pdf" target="_blank">glossary</a> was also provided
</p>
<p>The 2023 dataset provides information on the following topics:</p>
<p><ul>
<li>Section 1 - Institutionalising policy evaluation from a whole of government perspective (questions 4 to 10)</li>
<li>Section 2 - Promoting the quality of public policy evaluations (questions 11 to 27)</li>
<li>Section 3 - Conducting policy evaluations that impact decision-making (questions 28 to 36) </li>
</ul></p>
<p>The 2023 database comprises responses from 31 OECD countries<sup>1</sup> and the data refers only to central/federal government practices as of 1 May 2023. Respondents were predominantly officials with evaluation coordination functions.
The content of the database draws heavily upon self-reporting from governments representing the country’s own assessment of current practices and procedures.</p>
<p>Preliminary results were presented at the 5th Annual Meeting of the Evaluation Expert group on December 2023</a>.
