StackData speaks x402 — the HTTP 402 payment standard. An autonomous agent can buy a single sourced answer with a stablecoin, no account and no card. The server quotes a price, the agent pays from its wallet, the answer comes back with its sources. Cached answers, refusals, and errors are always free.

Questions
What is a "pull"?
One uncached fetch from an upstream source. The first time a question needs fresh data from a source, that is one pull. Ask the same question again and it is served from cache — free, and it never touches a source twice needlessly.
Why are free-tier boards public?
Public boards are the trade for free use, and they power the Explore feed where people find ideas. Paid plans keep boards private by default. Don't put anything you consider private into a free-tier board — see Privacy.
Do I need an account to use the API?
For plans, yes — your key comes with your account. Agents paying per call via x402 need no account at all. Full endpoint reference: API docs.
Is the data licensed for commercial use?
The underlying statistics are public, under open government and CC BY 4.0-style licences. You may use and share what you generate, including commercially, as long as you keep the source attribution each result carries. See Terms and Attribution.
