The catalog, so far.

Every dataset in the index, on one classification. Two national portals are indexed so far — one that publishes the files, and one that publishes the statistical tables — and because both file their holdings under the same 17 categories, no crosswalk had to be invented for them. Counts were read from each portal in August 2026 and move as sources are added.

18,144 is the count the file portal’s own search returns, and its 23 organizations sum to exactly that. 5.3% is 968 datasets carrying at least one CSV file; 9,267 of them (51.1%) carry at least one PDF. The 17 fields are the government's own statistical field classification, coded 01–16 plus 99.

The statistics portal counts in different units, so StackData does not force the two into one number. Its own search page reports 748 surveys (1,709,873 datasets) — 748 government statistics comprising 1,709,873 datasets, by that portal’s own label, in August 2026. Neither the portal nor its publishing agency states a figure for the number of statistical tables, so this site states none. 4,533 datasets — a quarter of the file portal portal — point at files another source hosts, which is why the two catalogs have to be joined rather than stacked.

This is the axis both sources already share. One exposes it as a numeric code in its URLs and as a filter parameter in its API; the other uses the same 17 labels as its category facet. Counts below are the file portal’s, descending.

Bars are the share of all 18,144 datasets. One dataset usually carries several formats, so a dataset can appear in more than one row and the eight rows add up to more than 18,144. These are dataset counts, not file counts: the true resource total is much larger — the 4,533 datasets that resolve to another source alone hold 149,455 files — and this site does not state it.
