Healthcare quality and outcomes
The Healthcare Quality and Outcomes (HCQO) indicators provide a systematic overview of the quality in healthcare – a core dimension of health system performance. This master HCQO dataset includes subgroups of indicators including the quality of Primary Care (Avoidable Admissions), Safe Prescribing in Primary Care, Acute Care, Integrated Care, Cancer Care, Mental Healthcare, Patient Safety, Patient Safety Culture, Patient Experiences, Mental Health Patient’s Experiences, Hip and Knee Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS), and End-of-life Care.

The indicators reported allow for assessment of whether the care provided is:

Effective: achieving desirable outcomes, given the provision of evidence-based healthcare services to all who could benefit, but not to those who would not benefit

Safe: reducing the risk of unnecessary harm associated with healthcare to an acceptable minimum

Person-centred: tailoring healthcare based on the individual needs, preferences and values of the patient
