Mental healthcare
Mental Healthcare (MH) is a subgroup of indicators within the HCQO database and provides data on the quality of mental healthcare. The database includes indicators on deaths from suicide among patients discharged with a mental disorder, and excess mortality among people with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Suicide rates reflect the quality of follow-up and continuity of care after discharge, while excess mortality captures overall health outcomes among people who had lived with severe mental illness compared to the general population. Indicators are age- and sex-standardised.
