PASEC: Distribution of 2nd grade students by average number of words read accurately in one minute. 1 to 5 Words

Percentage of 2nd grade students who accurately read 1 to 5 words within one minute. The exercise requires pupils to read isolated, familiar and mostly irregular words to determine which pupils have developed sufficient written language decoding skills to adopt a lexical approach to reading. Pupils have up to five seconds to read each word; This time limit ensures that students are not decoding words through the sub-lexical assembly process.
