COVID-19 expenditure
This dataset provides information on COVID-19 related health spending within the System of Health Accounts framework. It identifies spending linked to the health system response to the pandemic, including treatment of COVID-19 patients, testing and contact tracing, vaccination against SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19 related medical goods, and other current health expenditure associated with the pandemic response. The dataset also captures selected policy-relevant items outside current health expenditure, notably provider support related to COVID-19 revenue losses, as well as COVID-19 related investments in health infrastructure, medical equipment, facilities and information systems. By documenting the scale and composition of COVID-19 related health spending, this dataset provides evidence on the impact of an acute pandemic crisis on health systems and on how countries respond, helping to inform future analyses of health system preparedness and resilience.
