Physicians by categories

<p>This dataset provides data on the number of <strong>physicians</strong> by three main categories and eight sub-categories, which are defined as follows:</p>

<p>Generalist medical practitioners (ISCO-08 code: 2211)</p> <ul> <li>General practitioners</li> <li>Other generalist (non-specialist) medical practitioners</li> </ul> <p>Specialist medical practitioners (ISCO-08 code: 2212)</p> <ul> <li>General paediatricians</li> <li>Obstetricians and gynaecologists</li> <li>Psychiatrists</li> <li>Medical group of specialists</li> <li>Surgical group of specialists</li> <li>Other specialists not elsewhere classified</li> </ul> <p>Medical doctors not further defined (ISCO-08 code: 2210)</p>

<p>The breakdown by categories is provided for <strong>practising physicians</strong> where possible. If not possible, the data are reported for professionally active physicians or physicians licensed to practise.</p>
