Area by NUTS 3 region

<p>Total surface area (TSA) is the total extent of each NUTS level 3 statistical region, including land and inland waters such as lakes and rivers. Total land area (TLA) is TSA excluding lakes, rivers, transitional and coastal waters; it still covers mountainous regions, glaciers, forests, wetlands and other temporarily or permanently uninhabitable areas, following the Nomenclature of territorial units for statistics (NUTS) versions in force at the reference time. Coastlines are defined as mean high tide.</p>
