Job vacancy statistics (JVS) collect the stock of occupied and vacant posts recorded at a given date(s) within the reference quarter. They cover the whole economy (NACE Rev. 2.1 sections B to T and enterprises of any size). As part of JVS, the job vacancy rate (JVR) is calculated as the number of vacant posts expressed as a percentage of the total number of both occupied and vacant posts. The JVR provides information on the level and structure of unmet labour demand and constitutes one source of information for business cycle analysis.

Data are seasonally adjusted but not calendar adjusted.

In France and Italy, ‘Public administration and defence; compulsory social security’ (NACE Rev. 2.1 section P) is not surveyed while public institutions are not fully covered in ‘Education’ as well as ‘Human health and social work activities’ (NACE Rev. 2.1 sections Q and R).

Denmark only covers units within the business economy (NACE Rev. 2.1 sections B to O).
