Causes of death - potential years of life lost by treatable and preventable diseases

<p>Estimation of the potential years lost due to preventable or treatable causes, meaning premature death before the age of 70 or 75, according to the country where the person resided, and by sex.&nbsp;It is calculated by summing the number of years between the age at death and 70 or 75 years for each premature death.&nbsp;</p><p>PYLL rate is expressed per 100 000 age-standardised population under 70 or under 75.&nbsp;</p><p>The selected preventableand tratable causes of death are coded according to the 10th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10).</p><p>See annex 'Specifications of the public health theme tables' in the metadata for further information on treatable and preventable causes.</p>
